      Abstract

    Rocky coast is a coastal environment with hard substrate (rocks) situated between terrestrial and aquatic environments. It is considered more an extension of marine environment, since the major organisms habitants are related with sea. Like outcrop of crystalline rocks in sea line, they are subject to waves, currents and winds, and can be present different configurations like, cliff, round stone and large rocky coasts. The principal economic activities are: fishing, aquaculture and speculative business landed property. Some algae species are used to active substance extraction, with pharmaceutical applications, in cleaning products or to consume are some aspects of the important algal cultures, associated with the great variety of species of ecological and economical importance, for instance mussels, oysters, crustaceans and many fishes.
